Civil Bank defeated NMB Bank by 31 runs in the grand final to claim the Ncell Corporate Beach Cricket Title at the Riverside Spring Resort in Kurintar, Chitwan on Saturday.
NMB had won the first round of the tournament that was held at the same venue on May 3-4. They met second round winners Civil Bank who had set the championship clash with NMB after a four-wicket victory over Yeti Airlines in the final that also played on Saturday.
In the grand final, Civil Bank made 85-3 from five overs with an unbeaten 13ball 26 from Navin Chhetri. Navin hit three boundaries and two sixes, while Raj Shrestha was the next best scorer for the winners with a nine-ball 25 that included three sixes. Niahesh KC hit a six-ball 21 with two sixes and as many fours.
NMB, in reply, were bowled out for 54 in 4.2 overs. Dipesh Shrestha (13), Barun Ghimire (12) and Mohan KC (12) were the only NMB batsmen to show some resilience. Bhola Bista of Civil was declared the best player of the tournament. Maheshwori Dangol of Yeti Airlines – which also won the cheering team honour – took the best female player’s award. Save The Children got the best spirited team honour.
Earlier in the second round semi-finals today, Civil Bank had crushed Rolling Plans by 76 runs and Yeti Airlines edged Zamil Infra by three runs.
Ncell B-to-B Director Wadat Zehtab, Marketing Director Kethie Pirtskhalava, Custromer Relation Director Soma Thapa, Sales Director Rohit Roniyar and Nepal Armed Police Force SSP Durga Kunwar gave away the prizes to the winners.
