Gayle Storm is certain to strike Nepal come March 14 as
Twenty20 cricket’s Universe Boss Chris Gayle has made himself available for the
Everest Premier League.
Gayle will be playing for Pokhara Rhinos in what is so far
the biggest Twenty20 competition of the One Day International nation which is
now attracting big players from across the globe. With Gayle still getting his
mojo going, the Jamaican now becomes the biggest name to play in Nepal.
A host of big names from around the world are now also associated
with EPL with former South African skipper Hashim Amla already confirmed for
the show. It, however, is not confirmed which side he will be playing for. Last
season, Rhinos had also roped in another South African juggernaut Richard Levi
who put his fierce hitting at display.
According to J4 Sports, the owners of Rhinos franchise, Gayle
will arrive in Nepal on March 12 and will play matches according to the
schedule prepared by his Indian Premier League franchise Kings XI Punjab. The
glitzy Indian Premier League begins from March 29.
Having played all premier league competitions across the
globe, Gayle has already amassed 404 Twenty20 matches to his name to add to his
growing list of 301 one-dayers, 103 Tests and 58 Twenty20 Internationals.
West Indian cricket Dwayne Smith has also been confirmed to play for Bhairahawa
Gladiators. Former Sri Lankan captain Upul Tharanga (Lalitpur Patriots) and Afghan
hard hitter Mohammad Shahzad (Chitwan Tigers) are other foreign names announced
for the tournament.
