Cheetahs, Lions pounce on opponents

Informatics College Cheetahs defeated KKAF Syangja Challengers by five runs as Milan Thapa played a crucial innings in defense of a low total in Pokhara on Wednesday.

Cheetahs made 102 all out in 17.1 overs but came back strong with the ball after they restricted Challengers to 104-9 in 20 overs with Samir Sen, Kiran Pun and Bishwash Parajuli picking up two wickets each.

Bishow Thapa top scored with 22 runs from 19 balls with two sixes and a four, while No 10 batsman Ishwor Shrestha was their next best scorer with 21 runs from 11 balls hitting two maximum and a boundary.

Earlier, Milan shared two crucial partnerships – forging 30 runs for the second wicket with Vinay Bhandari and 39 runs for the fourth wicket with Ishwor Thapa. Milan made 33 off 37 with three fours and a six, while Ishwor hit 17-ball 27 with three sixes and a boundary.

Vinay clobbered two sixes and a four in his 12-ball 18. Sangam Gautam, Ashok Shrestha, Suraj Gurung and Dol Gurung picked up two wickets each for the losing side.

In the second match of the day, Downtown Pokhara Lions defeated Parbat Titans by 22 runs. Lions made 104-9 and figures of 3-12 from three overs from Sudeep Poudel saw Titans restricted to 82 all out in 19.2 overs.

Abhishek Thapa (15), Raju Tamang (12), Agendra Chhantyal (12) and Deepen Rayamajhi (11) made runs in double figures but their efforts were not enough. Lal Bahadur Gurung, Pravin Pandey and Biru Gurung also had two scalps apiece for the winning side.

Lions had Krishna Sen as their top scorer for 30 off 29 with five hits to the fence. Their total was bolstered by 19 sundries, while R Baral (14) and Manoj Koirala (12) were others to score in double digits.

Paras Lamichhane, Raju Tamang and Agendra took two wickets each for Challengers.
