Century Bank defeated Verisk IT by 13 runs to claim the title of the first Corporate Six-a-side Indoor Cricket Tournament at the Ultimate Indoors in Koteshwor on Saturday.
In the final, Century made a precarious 92 from 12 overs but they still came out victors bundling out Verisk IT for just 79 runs. Man-of-the-match Suraj Timalsina, who also picked up one Verisk IT wicket, contributed an invaluable 22 runs for Century.
Bishnu Tiwari and Diwesh Dangol also chipped in 14 runs apiece. Sharad Ojha made made 19 runs for Verisk and Bibek Pandey scored 11.
In the semi-finals, also held on Saturday, Century had trounced Alaap Traders by 97 runs and Verisk IT routed Instituted of Medicine (IOM) by 71 runs. Century made 138 in 12 overs and Alaap could only manage 41. Verisk piled up 110 and stopped IOM on 39.
Winners Century pocketed a cash purse of Rs 100,000. National cricket team skipper Paras Khadka, former captain Binod Das, women’s team wicketkeeper and vice-captain Mamta Thapa and U-19 skipper Bhuwan Karki graced the final day of the tournament.
Sujendra Pradhananga of Verisk IT was named the best batsman and Ujen Bajracharya of the same team took away the best bowler’s award. Subash Sharma of Century Bank was named the player-of-the-series and Swochhanda Nirmaan Sewa took the Fair Play Team honour.
