CAN names final squad for U-19 World Cup

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Monday named the final squad for the ICC U-19 World Cup bringing in three new faces.

Left-handed batsman Ishan Pandey, part-time wicket keeping batsman Himanshu Dutta and leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane are the new comers in the team. 

The squad saw the omission of Kushal Bhurtel and Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, both were the part of the team that played in the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers in Malaysia in October.

Raju Rijal will lead the side that includes Aarif Sheikh as his deputy. Sandeep Sunar, Sunil Dhamala, Dipendra Airee, Saurav Khanal, Prem Tamang, Sushil Kandel, Dipesh Shrestha, Rajbir Singh, Yogendra Karki and Shankar Rana.

Coach Jagat Tamatta said the team was selected on the basis of their performance in the training camp and the nature of pitch in Bangladesh. Drawn in Group ‘D’, Nepal will play India, Australia and New Zealand in the U-19 World Cup beginning from January 22 to February 14.
