The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and My Second Teacher jointly announced an open competition to design the national team jersey on Monday.
My Second Teacher, a mobile learning application of Nepal that has its users over 17 countries, are the jersey sponsors of the national team and had unveiled the first design ahead of Nepal’s Tri-Nation Series match in April.
The cricket governing body was under public scrutiny after it was involved in jersey unveiling without announcing an open competition. The two parties, however, on Monday announced the competition which will also offer a cash purse of Rs 100,000 to the best design.
The designer needs to work on both the shirt and trousers keeping in mind the red and blue colour of the national flag and the emblems on it. CAN has said the jersey should be designed according to the International Cricket Council jersey regulations.
The cash prize for the best design will be provided by My Second Teacher, informed AdPad Managing Director Suraj Giri. CAN had roped in My Second Teacher as its jersey sponsor through AdPad who earned the commercial rights of the national team jersey.
The best design will be worn by national cricketers during Nepal’s tour of Spain where they will play against Scotland and Namibia for their second Triangular Series of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.
The Series is tentatively scheduled to be held on the third week of July.
The current jersey design competition runs until June 17. The designer can send his/her creation at email@example.com.
