The ICC World Cricket League Division-III champions Nepali national team members on Wednesday were honoured by the country’ cricket governing body with Rs 100,000 each.
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) rewarded the players during a reception at the National Vision Hotel in Tinkune.
Skipper Paras Khadka, vice-captain Gyanendra Malla, Subash Khakurel, Pradeep Airee, Anil Mandal, Sharad Vesawkar, Binod Bhandari, Basanta Regmi, Shakti Gauchan, Sanjam Regmi, Chandra Sawad, Amrit Bhattarai, Prithu Baskota, Rahul Kumar BK and reserve player Naresh Budhayer were the part of the team that lifted the Division-III title defeating Uganda by five wickets in the final match in Bermuda.
Coach Pubudu Dassanayake, team manager TB Shah, technical analyst Raman Shiwakoti and physio V Subramanyam were the others to receive the cash rewards. Since, coach Dassanayake left to Canada to meet his family after the completion of Division-III, Paras took the honour on behalf of the coach.
Youth and Sports Minister Ram Kumar Shrestha, Chief Secretary Lila Mani Poudel, Secretary Hari Nepal, CAN President Tanka Angbuhang and General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakuryal honoured the cricketers.
Thanking the cricket governing body for the recognition of the effort from the players, Paras said it was now time to move forward with a vision to take Nepali to higher level. After reaching the final of Division-III, Nepal earned a maiden berth in the 2014 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier to be held in New Zealand on January.
