CA Chairman Wally Edwards in Nepal

Cricket Australia (CA) Chairman Wally Edwards on Wednesday arrived in Nepal to attend the Phil Hughes Tribute Match that will be held at the Tribhuvan University Stadium on Aprill 11.

 

Edwards, also the head of the ICC executive committee landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport with his wife Kerry. Nepal are hosting  a 63—over Tribute Match for Phil Hughes, who died on November 27 after suffering head injuries during a Sheffield Shield match against South Australia.

 

Hughes’ teammate at New South Wales, Ryan Carters, who also plays for Sydney Thunder in the Australia Big Bash along with former Australian international Matthew Eliott are joining the Tribute Match.

 

Carters will skipper the ‘Red’ team in the 31-.3-over-a-side game. ICC Head of Global Development, Tim Anderson, will also be a part of the team. The visiting cricketers will combine with Nepali players for the Tribute game which will be followed an expedition to the Mt Everest where mountaineer Chhurim Sherpa will place Hughes’ bat and parts of his jersey at the top of the world.
