According to a statement released by West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), Bravo wrote a letter to chairman of WICB Clive Lloyd and had requested not to consider him for the South Africa tour.
Last week WICB has announced 15 men squad for the series against South Africa and had made it mandatory to sing a tour contract.
West Indies will play three test matches, three T20 Internationals and five match One Day International series against South Africa starting from test match on December 17.
This is the first series of West Indies after pulling out their tour of India without playing one ODI, one off T20I and three match test series.
