Region-II (Birgunj) won their first ever match of the Women’s National Tournament defeating Region-VIII (Pokhara) by two wickets at the TU grounds on Monday.
After electing to bat first, Pokhara made 140-9 in 40 overs riding on three modest contributions. Birgunj batswomen struggled in their chase but an undisciplined Pokhara bowling attack that conceded 53 extras saw them reach 142-8 in 32.2 overs.
Birgunj didn’t have big contributors with the bat despite returning with the victory. Mamta Chaulagain top scored with 20 off 28 hitting four boundaries, while Manisha Chaulagain (16), Puja Ghimire (14) and Divya Srivastav (10) made runs in double figures.
