Bhutan might be minnows of world cricket but the sport took a peculiar leap after one of the batsmen from Himalayan nation was roped in for the Everest Premier League.
The franchise Twenty20 competition, which is now luring some of the settled names in international cricket, has become a premier competition of the country and is set to begin from September 25 to October 9 at the TU grounds.
Ranjung Mikyo Dorji, who has some Nepal connection having studied in Darjeeling a Nepali speaking city in India, is a middle order batsman and is among the leading run scorers for his nation. The 35-year old’s Twenty20 International debut was also against Nepal during the 2019 South Asian Games.
In the match where Nepal captain had struck is maiden Twenty20 International century helping the hosts pile up a mammoth 236-3, Dorje had scored a 23-ball 27 hitting four sixes. Dorje will play Gyanendra’s Lalitpur Patriots in the EPL.
Defending champions Patriots have also announced the arrival of England batsman Alex J Blake among their foreign recruits.
