Baluwatar Cricket Club (BCC) and Kathmandu Khel Mandal (KKM) made short work of their opponents to win their first matches of the Kathmandu District Senior Twenty20 Selection Tournament on Sunday.
BCC hammered Dilli Bazaar Cricket Club by nine wickets riding on a sharp bowling from Ritesh Singh. Ritesh picked up 4-9 from four overs as BCC bundled out Dilli Bazaar for just 92 runs in 18 overs.
Ritesh was ably supported by Kshitiz who took 3-11 from his four-over spell. Following super second wicket partnership from Prakash Bista and Suman Uday BCC reached 93-1 in just 10.5 overs.
Prakash made 44 off 31 with seven boundaries, while Suman made a 28-ball 29 with three hits to the fence. Earlier, Rohan Ghimire (22), Akshay Shrestha (15) and Abhishek Singh (13) made runs in double digits for the losing side.
KKM, meanwhile, registered a whopping 65-run victory over South West Cricket Club (SWCC) after some fiery bowling from Manish Gupta. Following some descent performance from their batsmen KKM made 131-9 in 20 overs and Manish returned to take 4-11 from three overs to pack SWCC for just 66 runs in 15.2 overs.
Niraj Bhattarai also picked up three wickets in KKM victory. Gagan Pathak (21) and Niraj KC (15) were the only SWCC batsmen to make runs in double figures. Earlier, Niraj starred with the bat as well making 23-ball 37 clobbering seven boundaries, while Manish chipped in with a composed 26 off 33 that included two boundaries. Ashik KC made 14 off 17.
For SWCC, Ashish Pokhrel (3-17), Sharad Khadka (3-28) and Cyrus Shrestha (2-23) shared eight wickets between them.
