BCB terminate sponsorship of Sahara

Bangladesh Cricket Board has ended its contract with Aambay Valley 15 months before the schedule to end. Ambay Valley is an affiliate of Sahara India Parivar which has been the title sponsor of Bangladesh cricket team since June 2012.


BCB had sold sponsorship right to Sahara in June 2012 which cost 14 million dollars for a period of four years. The contract was supposed to end in June 2016.


The board published an advertisement in a national daily of Bangladesh on March 30 searching for new sponsor. BCB is now looking for a new sponsor of Bangladesh cricket team for their home series against Pakistan which is scheduled to start later this month.


According to Chief Executive Office of Bangladesh Cricket Board Nizamuddin Choudhary it is confirm that they have now ended their contract with Sahara before 15 months of contract end. But he did not wanted to disclose the reason for ending the contract. He also did not disclose the financial consequences after terminating the contract.


Nizamuddin futher informed that they have decided to terminate the contract with Sahara and not to continue their sponsorship. He described that he can’t speak about the deal with Sahara.


Sahara took over the sponsorship of Bangladesh cricket team after over paying to take the sponsorship of Grameen Phone in the year 2012. Grameen Phone had been sponsor of Bangladesh cricket team for about eight years.
