Left arm medium pace bowler Avinash Karn has been ruled out of the ICC World Twenty20 after the 20 year old suffered knee injury during a training session.
The bowler has been replaced by batsman Anil Mandal for the World Twenty20 which is beginning on March 16. Anil joined the team on Thursday. CAN Member Kiran accompanied the right-hand batsman to Bangladesh.
Avinash was left out of Nepal’s first warm-up match against Ireland on Wednesday due to injury. He was the part of the Nepali team that qualified for the World Twenty20 following a third place finish in the Qualifiers in the UAE.
Avinash is the second casualty of injury after Prithu Baskota in the Nepali team. Prithu was ruled out of the World Twenty20 after he was picked up for the final 15-member squad. He failed to prove his fitness after aggravating a knee injury during the 50-over Qualifiers in New Zealand in January.
Experienced left arm seamer Amrit Bhattarai had replaced Prithu in the team. Anil’s return is the inclusion of extra batsman, while national team will now have three seamers along with Amrit, Som Pal Kami and Jitendra Mukhiya. Avinash will remain with the team until the World Twenty20.
