Australia won the first ODI by 72 runs

Australia has won the first ODI match against India by 72 runs. With this win Australia lead the seven match ODI series by 1-0.


In the match held at Pune Australia won the toss and elected to bat first.


Australia started the inning slowly but the opener added 110 runs for the first wicket partnership in 18.2 overs. Phillip Huges made 47 runs and was out off Rabindra Jadeja. Aaron Finch made 72 off 79 balls. While captain George Bailey was the top scorer for Aussies team with 85 runs of 82 balls. Australia made a total of 304 runs with the loss of eight wickets.


Chasing the target of 305 runs home team could made only 232 runs in 49.4 overs and was all out. Virat Kohli was the highest run scorer for India who made 61 runs.


Australia captain George Bailey was elected man-of-the-match.


Second ODI match between India and Australia will be held at Jaipur on 16th October.
