Oct 22, 2019 | CN Staff |

Rubina Chhetri produced an allround display as Kat Queens Kathmandu staged a solid comeback with the ball to hammer Biratangar Titans by nine wickets for a place in the final of the Women's Champions League on Tuesday.

Skipper Sarita Magar's decision to bat first was initially vindicated after when openers Sonu Khadka and Jyoti Pandey (12) gave a quickfire start before Rubina struck. From 44 without loss by the seventh over, Titans went on to lose their 10 wickets for just 24 runs with Rubina forming the nucleus of the Kat Queens attack.

Rubina removed both the openers in consecutive overs before Laxmi Chaudhary (three) was run out. Rubina returned again to bowl Dolly Bhatta (duck) as Kat Queens began strangulating Titans before they were 68 all out in 17.3 overs.

Player-of-the-match Rubina returned the figures of 4-4 from four overs with one maiden. Ishwari Bist, Sangita Rai and Laxmi Saud took one scalp apiece. Aarati Bidari (11) was the only remaining Titans batswoman to make runs in double figures. Sonu played fluently in her 24-ball 34 striking six boundaries.

Kat Queens did lose opener Roma Thapa to Sonu for a first ball duck before Rubina shared 70 unbeaten runs for the second wicket with Apsari Begam. Rubina made 34 off 30 with six boundaries and Apsari made 27 off 28 with three hits to the fence.

Kat Queens will now take on Chitwan Rhinos in the final of the tournament on Wednesday. Rhinos are the only unbeaten team of the tournament.
