Kabita, Bindu put record century stand in Paltan's farewell victory

Kabita Kunwar and Bindu Rawal brought Nepal's first century partnership in domestic Twenty20 cricket as Pokhara Paltan signed off from the Women's Championship League defeating Lalitpur Falcons by six wickets in their last match of the tournament.

Electing to bat first, a half century from Mamta Chaudhary lifted Falcons to 122-7 in 20 overs. Paltan chase jolted early in the game after they lost the first three wickets for just five runs. Kabita and Bindu staged an excellent recovery adding 106 runs for the fourth wicket as Paltans reached 123-4 in 17.2 overs.

It was first ever century partnership in domestic Twenty20 cricket competitions. The duo also beat tournament's previous highest partnership between Jyoti Pandey and Sonu Khadka. The two batswomen had added 83 runs for the first wicket against Falcons.

Kabita made 61 off 40 with 10 hits to the fence and Bindu's 44-ball 40 included four boundaries. Mamta and skipper Nary Thapa took two wickets each for Falcons.

Earlier, Falcons were reduced to 8-2 in two overs before Mamta and skipper Nary Thapa (eight) combined for a 28-run partnership. But they lost next two wickets in a space of three runs to get precariously placed at 39-4.

Mamta and Kabita Joshi then added 51 runs for the fifth wicket to push Falcons beyond triple figures. Mamta remained unbeaten on a 51-ball 52 with seven hits to the fence. Kabita made 31 off 23 hitting three boundaries. Samjhana Khadka (10) also made runs in double figures.

Sita Rana Magar took two wickets for Paltan, while Nabina Khadka, Anjali Chand and Rajamati Airee also had one scalp apiece.
