Oct 19, 2019 | CN Staff |

Chitwan Rhinos confirmed a spot in the Women's Champions League playoffs with yet another clinical display for their third consecutive victory of the tournament.

In the day's first game at the TU grounds, Rhinos hammered Pokhara Paltan by seven wickets on the back of a solid performance from their openers. The third defeat in a row meant, Paltan are all but out of the tournament.

Electing to bat first, Sita Rana Magar played a captain's knock with an unbeaten half century leading her team to 127-5 in 20 overs. The challenging score, however, meant nothing for Rhinos after openers Kajol Shrestha and Kanchan Shrestha laid the foundation with a 71-run partnership before they reached 127-3 in 18 overs.

Kajal struck 51 off 47 with five hits to the fence, while Kanchan chipped in 29 off 34 with two fours. After the departure of Kanchan, Kajol added another 47 runs for the second wicket with captain Indu Barma who scored 24 off 23 with four boundaries.

Anjali Chand took two wickets for Paltan. The Paltan innings revolved around Sita who, along with Manju Bogati took the team close to 130. Manju and Sita collected 28 runs from the last two overs.

Sita rebuilt the innings with a 33-run stand with Shila Chhetri (three) for the third wicket. The best partnership came for the sixth wicket with Manju and Sita adding 43 runs. Sita posted a match-high 65 off 56 with seven fours and a six. Manju made 24 off 16 with two hits to the fence. Kabita Gautam took two wickets for Rhinos.
