Paras single-handedly helps Nepal to take 1-0 lead over Malaysia

Nepal took 1-0 lead against Malaysia in two-match twenty20 international series as Paras Khadka's side beat Malaysia by seven-wicket on Saturday at Kinrara Oval.

Batting first, half-century stand between opener Virandeep Singh and skipper Ahmed Faiz took Malaysia to 129-9 in 20 overs. Then, Paras single handedly guided Nepal to 129-3 in 18.3 over with 50-ball 86.

While rest of the Nepal's batters were struggling, Paras slammed eight fours and five sixes to take the game home. Paras shared unbeaten 42-ball 61 stand for the fourth wicket with Sharad Vesawkar. On the other hand, Sharad notched up 16 runs off 20 balls with a match finishing six. Pradeep Airee -- who opened the innings -- scored eight off 17 deliveries that included a six. Gyanendra Malla faced 20 balls for his seven runs.

Anwar Rahman was stand-out performer for the host with the figures 2-20 in his four overs. He helped his side to get rid of Gyanendra and Rohit Kumar Paudel (five). Fitri Sham (1-26) was another wicket-taker for the losing side.

Earlier, Karan KC returned the figures 3-27 to prevent the late damage for Nepal. He took care of Rahma (zero), Muhamad Syahadat (eight) and skipper Faiz in 20th over of the innings. Sandeep Lamichhane picked two wickets, giving away 25 runs in his four overs while Basant Regmi gave 28 runs to take as many wickets. Sompal Kami (1-15) also picked a wicket for the winning side.

Virandeep top-scored for Malaysia with 49-ball 57 that included seven fours and a six. Ahmed contributed vital 45 runs off 39 balls with two sixes. Fitri (12) was other batsman to score in double-digit for Malaysia
