Sagar impresses yet again as Nepal through to U-19 Asia Cup

Sagar Dhakal took a fifer as Nepal outplayed Hong Kong by six wickets to lift ACC U-19 Eastern Region Tournament title on Tuesday at Kinrara Oval. 

Nepal, with this win, qualified for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup beginning in Sri Lanka next month.

After being asked to bat first, Hong Kong batsmen were clueless in front of Sagar and Kamal Singh Airee as they combined to pick up eight wickets to Skittle out Hong Kong for 95 in 43.5 overs. 

Pawan Sarraf laid the foundation for comprehensive win with 36-ball 39 which leading Nepal to 96-4 in 16.1 overs.

Pawan smashed five fours and a six in his innings. Rit Gautam gave him perfect company with 13 runs off 14 balls that included two fours. The duo shared 39-ball 52 opening-wicket stand for the winning side. 

Skipper Rohit Kumar Paudel scored 10-ball 12. Bhim Sharki finished it off with unbeaten eight runs from 11 balls. 
Sagar claimed his second five wicket-haul of the tournament as he returning the figures of 5-18 in his 10 overs. Sagar struck twice before conceding any run in his first two overs. 

Opening batsman Nasrulla Rana (zero) and Rahul Sharma (zero) were his first two wickets. Sagar then broke Adit Gorawara and Kalhan Marc Challu's 29-run stand for third wicket in the 13th over of the innings. He immediately got rid of wicket-keeping batsman Aarush Bhagwat (zero), followed by wicket of Mehran (four) in his second spell.

Gorawara top scored for Hong Kong with 71-ball 24 that included four boundaries. Likewise, Challu slammed two fours and a six in his way to scoring 19 runs off 38 balls. Raunaq Kapur (12) was another batsman to score in double-digit for the losing side.

Medium-pacer Kamal Singh Airee took care of Hong Kong's tail anders with three wickets in his second spell. He returned the figures of 3-23 in eight overs. Kushal Malla was very economical conceding four runs in 8.1 overs with a wicket to his name. Tilak Raj Bhandari (1-12) picked other one wicket.
