Apr 01, 2019 | CN Staff |

Sandeep Lamichhane bowled excellent spell and picked up two wickets in his second match of the Indian Premier League 2019 against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on Monday.

Bowling first, Delhi Capitals restricted Punjab to 166-9 in 20 overs after Chris Morris (3-30) and Kagiso Rabada (2-32) pulled it back in death overs with accurate line and length. David Miller (43) and Sarfraz Khan (39) got the start for KXIP but failed to convert it into big ones.

Sam Curran returned with the ball to take a hat-trick bundling out Capitals for just 152 runs in 19.2 overs. Curran took 4-11 in 2.2 overs.

Sandeep remained the most economical bowler yet again with the economy of 6.8 runs per over. Sandeep took care of Sam Curran and Khan on his way to returning the figures of 2-27 in four overs. Sandeep -- who was smashed for two sixes -- bowled eight dot balls.

Sandeep sent back Curran in his first over when skipper Shreyas Iyer asked him to bowl the fourth over of the innings. Curran slammed him for six in the fourth ball before Sandeep trapped him in front of wicket in the fifth one.

Sandeep was called back for his second over in the seventh over of the innings where he walked away with just four singles. Iyer then asked Sandeep to bowl 12th over where Miller smashed him for maximum in the last ball. Sandeep was shaping the over nicely until fifth ball giving away just three runs before Miller's six made it 9 from the over.

He then dismissed well-set Khan -- who was batting on 39. Khan edged the fifth ball of Sandeep's last over which was taken beautifully by Rishabh Pant behind the stump. He just gave away four runs in his last over. Sandeep (1-29) had picked one wicket in his previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
