KU cancel out stiff Tri Chandra challenge

Kathmandu University cancelled out a stiff challenge from Tri Chandra College to enter the semi-final of the Golden Gate College Cricket League Twenty20 on Thursday.

In the day's second match at the TU grounds, KU rode on a half century from Pravin Rijal and quickfire knock from skipper Ishan Pandey to make 152-3 in 20 overs. Tri Chandra batted with some grit and kept themselves in the haunt but after losing Puran BK, they were bundled out for 133 runs in 19.3 overs.

Prajwal Shahi replied solidly for Tri Chandra smacking two sixes and adding some crucial runs with opener Dilip Nath (22) and Puran. He fell for 33 off 25, also hitting three boundaries. Tri Chandra were still expecting to chase it down with Puran glued to the crease but he top edged Rupesh Srivastav losing his wicket for 47 off 40 hitting four boundaries and a six.

Rupesh ended up picking four wickets, while Ishan and Sagar Sharma also took two each. Earlier, Prabin and Rabin Joshi (29) began with a 50-run partnership for the first wicket for KU. Prabin added another 60 with Ishan who gave a perfect finishing smashing 47 off 30 hitting four boundaries and one six. Dilip Nath took three wickets for Tri Chandra.

In the first match of the day, riton crushed Orchid International College by 44 runs to qualify as Group 'A' winners. Aadil Khan and national team opener Pradeep Airee shared 77 runs for the third wicket guiding Triton to 142-5 in 20 overs. Orchid in reply were restricted to 98-9.

Aadil made 49 off 36 with four boundaries and a six. Pradeep scored 37 off 48 with four boundaries. Bigyan Gautam took two wickets for Orchid.
