Nepal announce 25-member preliminary squad for Twenty20 World Cup Asia Qualifier

Nepal has announced a 25-member preliminary squad for the upcoming ICC Twenty20 World Cup Qualifier Asia Finals to be held in Singapore from July 20-28.

The preliminary squad includes skipper Paras Khadka, Abinash Bohora, Amit Shrestha, Basant Regmi, Bhim Sharki, Binod Bhandari, Dipendra Singh Airee, Gyanendra Malla, Jitendra Kumar Mukhiya, Karan KC, Kushal Bhurtel, Lalit Bhandari, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Arif Sheikh, Nandan Yadav, Pawan Sarraf, Pradeep Airee, Raju Rijal, Rohit Kumar Paudel, Sandeep Lamichhane, Shahab Alam, Sharad Vesawkar, Sompal Kami, Sundeep Jora and Sushan Bhari.


An independent selection committee headed by ICC representative Aminul Islam, head coach Umesh Patwal and skipper Paras picked up the players following their performance in the recently concluded Prime Minister Cup One Day National cricket tournament and recent performances in national and international tournaments.


The final squad for the tournament will be announced after the completion of the closed camp which starts from June 20 at the TU Stadium. Nepal will play alongside hosts Singapore, Malaysia, Kuwait and Qatar in the six-nation Qualifier which will send one team into the Global Qualifier.


The ICC Twenty20 World Cup Global Qualifier will be held in the United Arab Emirates in October and November this year. While UAE have made it to the Global Qualifier as the hosts, other teams securing an automatic berth are Scotland, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Oman and Ireland.
