Sharad's brilliance helps APF to stay on the top

Sharad Vesawkar went all-round as Armed Police Force (APF) outplayed Gandaki Province by six wickets to register their third consecutive victory of Prime Minister Cup 2019 at Mulpani Cricket Ground on Friday.

APF invited Gandaki to bat first and restricted them on below par total of 125 allout in 41.2 overs. Then, Sharad stayed till the end and ensured their win with 127-4 in 23 overs.

Both the openers -- Rahul Sharma and Anil Gurung -- got the start with 11 off 59 and 11 off 43 balls respectively. Aakash Thapa also made 47-ball 19 with a six. Dipesh Shrestha -- who batted as no.8 -- top scored for Gandaki with 27 runs off 35 balls that included two fours. Bipin Khatri (17) and Kishor Mahato (15) were other two batsmen to score in double-digit for Gandaki Province.

Bhuwan Karki returned the figures of 3-22 in his nine overs which included two maiden over. Amar Singh Routela was phenomenal with the ball as he returned the exceptional figures of 2-8 in his nine overs with four maidens. Yagyaman Kumal (2-16) and Sharad Vesawkar (2-41) also picked two wickets apiece.

Chasing the target, APF looked comfortable with unbeaten 54-ball 35 from Sharad. Player-of-the-match Sharad smashed four boundaries in his match-winning innings. Aarif Sheikh slammed two fours and as many sixes in his 19-ball 20's innings. Pradeep Airee settled with 33 runs off 30 balls that included five fours and a six.

Dipesh Shrestha returned with the ball and tried his best with 3-25 in his six overs. Kishor Mahato (1-16) also picked a wicket.
