Feb 25, 2019 | CN Staff |

Dhangadhi Cricket Academy (DCA) on Monday announced the 15-member DPL Emerging Stars team travelling to South Africa for training and cricket matches against the local age group teams of the country.

On February 20, South African international Jonty Rhodes, who was also the goodwill ambassador of the recently concluded Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL), had said they will select 15 emerging cricketers from the DPL to take them to South Africa for training and play matches.

DCA had coordinated with Sports ED along with Rhodes and his compatriot Ryan Maron to provide the Nepali youngsters with the opportunity. Maron was the coach of the DPL champions CYC Attariya and Rhodes had mentored the team.

The Nepali team will go to South Africa in October to play and train in Cape Town. They are expected to play 50-over games along with two-day cricket if possible. National team's latest entrants Sundeep Jora, Bhim Sharki and Pawan Sarraf are among the 15-member team that also includes another emerging cricketer Rohit Kumar Paudel.

The three players were in the national team that claimed Nepal's maiden One Day International and Twenty20 International Series against the United Arab Emirates earlier this month. Sharki is yet to get a debut with the national team.

While Rohit only featured in the ODI squad, Jora and Sarraf had also played the Twenty20 Internationals. Also making it to the 15-member team were Rit Gautam, Kushal Malla, Trit Raj Das, Suwash Ayer, Sushil Khadka, Kamal Singh Airee, Rashid Khan, Aadil Ansari, Dipendra Rawat, Krishna Ayer and Khagendra Joshi.
