Patel shines as Attariya stun United to lift the title of DPL3

Sunny Patel’s brilliance helped CYC Attariya stun Mahendranagar United by three-wicket to lift the title of Dhangadhi Premier League 2019 at the Fapla Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Electing to bat first, half-century stand between Dilip Nath and Kushal Malla for the fifth wicket anchored United to 123 all out in 20 overs. Then, Sunny Patel coped under pressure to make it 127-7 for Attariya in 19.5 overs.

Patel – who was also adjudged as player-of-the-series – bagged player-of-the-match award for his match winning 26-ball 47 that included three sixes and as many fours.  Needling seven runs to win from last over, Patel and Jitendra Thakuri collected four runs from first four balls before Patel smashed Abinash Bohora for six in fifth ball to finish off the things in style.

Attariya were struggling at 54-5 in 10 over before Patel shared all important 38 runs from 40 balls with skipper Dipendra Airee for the sixth wicket. Attariya were asked to score 29 runs from last 18 balls where Patel scored 26 off it and took his team over the winning line.

Opener Jaykishan Kolsawala was their next best with 30 runs from 27 balls hitting five shots to the fence. Dipendra consolidated with 35- ball 17 with a four.

Mohammad Naveed and Sagar Dhakal picked two wickets each for United. Sagar returned the figures of 2-17 while Naveed ended up with 2-19 in his four overs. Abinash (1-30) and Shahab Alam (1-27) chipped in with a scalp apiece.

Earlier, Dilip Nath top scored for United with 43 off 41 balls including five fours and a six. Kushal Malla and Rohit Kumar Paudel also scored 25 (22) and 24 (20) runs respectively. Kushal hits two sixes and a four while Rohit slammed a four and six respectively.

Aarif Sheikh (11) and Naveed (10) were their other notable contributors with the bat.

Attariya were sharp on fielding depart as they took five of the wickets through run-out – Patel was involved on three occasions. Airee returned the figures of 2-24 in his four overs while Dipendra Rawat picked two wickets in his two overs giving away 11 runs. Sunny Patel picked one through his bowling, conceding just 11 runs from his four overs with a maiden.
