Sunny's allround display puts Attariya into final

Feb 20, 2019 | CN Staff |
Sunny Patel's all-round performance helped CYC Attariya hammer Kathmandu Goldens by 41 runs to enter the final of the Dhangadhi Premier League at the Fapla Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

Electing to bat first, Attariya could only muster 110-8 in 20 overs where skipper Dipendra Singh Airee and Sunny did the majority of scoring. The bowlers then did extremely well to defend the total with man-of-the-match Sunny alone picking up three wickets as Goldens were 69 all out in 18.3 overs.

Gyanendra Malla's Goldens will now face either Rupandehi Challengers and Mahendranagar United in the second Qualifier on February 22. Challengers and United are playing on Thursday in the Eliminator.

Dipendra and Patel contributed more than fifty percent of total runs for Attariya and gave something to bowl for the bowlers in second innings. Airee top scored for his side making a 34-ball 33 with five hits to the fence while Patel slammed two sixes and a boundary in his 24 ball-ball 28.

Openers Shubhendu Pandey and Jaykishan Kolsawala gave Attariya a decent start adding 26 runs for the first wicket. Shubhendu added 16 while Kolsawala chipped in 13 runs to the total. Ankit Dabas was pick of the Goldens bowlers returning the economical figures of 2-11 in his four overs.

Surya Tamang also picked up two to take 2-14 in three overs. Rashid Khan (1-19) and Yogendra Karki (1-15) also picked a scalp apiece.

Chasing the modest total, Goldens suffered a batting collapse with only two double-figure partnerships. Gaurav Tomar shared 26 runs with Dabas (six) for sixth wicket followed by 11 runs with Yogendra Singh Karki.

Tomar top scored for Goldens with 27-ball 26 hitting two fours and a six. Gyanendra Malla and Yogendra were other batsmen to score in double digits with 11 runs each.

Sunny conceded just 18 runs in four overs that included a maiden. Dipendra was also very economical taking 1-8 from his four. Bhuwan Karki (2-12) and Kamal Singh Airee (2-13) shared four wickets between them.
