Dhangadhi Premier League winners to get Rs 3 million

Feb 06, 2019 | CN Staff |
Dhangadhi Cricket Academy (DCA) on Wednesday announced a cash purse of Rs 3 million for the champions of the third edition of the Ruslan Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL).
From an overall purse that reaches Rs 6 million, this is an increment of half-a-million from what the champions of the second edition received. The increment also confirms that DPL will remain Nepal's highest cash-prized cricket tournament.

The first runners-up will be rewarded with Rs 1.2 million, while the third and fourth place finishers will pocket Rs 400,000 and Rs 200,000.

The most valuable player of the tournament will get a golden shoe which was won by Lalit Bhandari last edition when he inspired Team Chauraha Dhangadhi to the title. Every man-of-the-match will receive Rs 15,000 sponsored by Nabil Bank. The golden shoe is sponsored by Goldstar.

The player-of-the-series, best batsman and bowler will also get their share of prizes, informed the organisers during a press conference on Wednesday. The total estimated budget for this season is 50 million.

DPL is all set to begin from February 9 at the Fapla Cricket Ground. DCA President Subash Bahadur Shahi said the organisers have completed all the preparations for the tournament. "The five pitches are ready for the matches and rest of the preparations are done," said Shahi on Wednesday.
A total of six teams are participating in the 15-day tournament with the final scheduled for February 23. World cricket's fielding legend South African Jonty Rodes – who is scheduled to land on Thursday -- is appointed as good will ambassador of the tournament.

Two-time defending champions Dhangadhi Stars, Biratnagar Kings, CYC Attariya, Rupandehi Challengers, Mahendranagar United and Kathmandu Goldens are the six franchises competing for the title.
