Naveed to play for Mahendranagar United

Jan 30, 2019 | CN Staff |
United Arab Emirates (UAE) stand-in skipper Mohammad Naveed has been roped in by Mahendranagar United for this season's Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL).

Following the suspension of Rohan Mustafa, Naveed is currently leading UAE national cricket team against Nepal for ODI and Twenty20 series. Right-arm medium pace bowler Naveed is an experienced campaigner having played 31 One-Dayers for UAE with 42 wickets to his name including five-wicket haul against Papua New Guinea in the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

He has also played 22 Twenty20 International matches with 29 wickets following 103 scalps in 72 List appearances. Naveed also has ability to dispatch the ball out of park which he had proved in several occasions. He too has experience of playing in Nepal as he participated in last edition of Pokhara Premier League (PPL) and Everest Premier League (EPL) -- both from Sharad Vesawkar's Pokhara Paltans and Bhairahawa Gladiators respectively.

He played crucial part in Paltans title triumph with 83 runs and seven wickets in five matches. He was leading wicket-taker of EPL's third edition with 12 wickets in six matches. United co-owner, Niraj Chand, was delighted with the inclusion of Naveed. "Naveed will bring experience in the team and make our team more stronger. He can also contribute through bat. His presence will boost our young squad and i'm hopeful for better team performance with him", he said.
