Paras Khakda becomes Nepal’s first ODI centurion

Jan 28, 2019 | CN Staff |

Nepal skipper Paras Khadka has become the country’s first century scorer in the One Day International history.

Paras, who took 94 balls to reach historic landmark, brought up the ton against the United Arab Emirates in chase of 255 runs in a decider between the two teams in a three-match One Day International Series.

Paras hit a six against Ashfaq Ahmed when he was batting on 87 to reach the nervous 90s but still displayed his calm and composure clubbing medium pacer Imran Haider for a boundary. His 108-ball 115 was laced with 15 boundaries and a six.

Qadeer Ahmed trapped him leg before wicket when Nepal were 40 runs still away from the victory with 68 balls remaining. Paras previously had a half century for Nepal which he brought up against the Netherlands in a two-match ODI Series away to the Dutch.

Nepal so far have five half centuries and a century after achieving the ODI status from the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in March last year.
