Sandeep leaves BPL with economical spell, back to national duty

Jan 19, 2019 | CN Staff |
The national cricket team teen-sensation Sandeep Lamichhane went wicketless in his last match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and is now set to join the national team for the upcoming ODI and Twenty20 International bilateral series against the UAE.

Playing for Sylhet Sixers, Sandeep returned the figures of 0-21 in his last and sixth match against Rangpur Riders who chased down a mammoth total of 195 with an ease.

Lamichhane will now represent Nepal in the series and can fly back to Bangladesh after February 3 if Sixers make it to the playoffs. But with just four points from seven matches and at the sixth spot, Sandeep seems to have played his last game for the Sixers.

Asked to take the first strike, Sabbir Rahman’s quick-fire 85 propelled Sixers to 194-4 in 20 overs. Rilee Rossouw’s 35- ball 61 helped Riders chase it down with three balls to spare.

Sandeep produced four dot balls in his first over giving away just three runs. A boundary from Rossouw saw him conceded seven runs in the second. He conceded eight runs in his third including a boundary. He finished up his spell with just three runs off the final over.

He played six matches for Sixers picking up four wickets with an impressive economy of 5.66 giving away 136 runs in 24 overs.
