Rohit shines as Armymen thump Province 3

Tribhuwan Army Club thrashed Province no 3 by 118 runs in their first match of the Manmohan Memorial Cup One Day National in Inaruwa on Tuesday.

Batting first, TAC posted an imposing 288-5 in 50 overs on a back of a whirlwind knock from Rohit Kumar Paudel. The Armymen then returned to bundle out Province 3 for 170 runs in 36.2 overs.

Player of the match Rohit stuck unbeaten 80 runs from 49 deliveries in an innings studded with six fours and four hits over the fence. Rising cricketer Bhim Sharki had a remarkable day at the office with a run-a-ball 71 runs.

Skipper Binod Bhandari – who opened the batting for TAC—scored a patient 48 which came off 73 deliveries. Rajesh Pulami Magar (28) and Kushal Malla (16) were other notable contributors for them. Anil Mandal, who struggled throughout his innings, scored five runs off 29 balls.

Nepal Under-19 cricket team member Pratish GC stood up for Province 3 with the ball taking two wickets along with Jitendra Singh Thakuri. Spinner Surya Tamang also had one scalp. 

Ishan Panday (75) gave some hope to Province 3 before their innings was shut down for below 200 runs. Adil Khan (32) was their next best scorer. Captain Sonu Tamang and Jitendra made 16 runs each. 

Shahab Alam bowled brilliantly returning with miserly figures of 4-14 from 5.2 overs. Bikram Sob and Jitendra Mukhiya also had two scalps apiece. Bhim and Sushan Bhari Shrestha also took a wicket each.
