Bishal scores ton, Province 2 out with big win

Bishal Sushling became the second batsman of the tournament to strike a century as Province 2 hammered Shanti Deep by 208 runs in their last match of the Manmohan Memorial Cup One Day National Cricket Tournament on Monday.

Already out of the tournament from the three-team pool, Province 2 made a point through Sushling who hit a 108-ball 111 leading the team to 301-6 in 50 overs after electing to bat first. Prem Tamang of Nepal Police Club had also struck a century in their big victory over Shanti Deep on Sunday. Hosts Shanti Deep, in reply, were skittled out for a paltry 93 in 25.2 overs.


While NPC have made it to the semi-finals from the pool, Province 2 and Shanti Deep made only a brief stay in the tournament.


The day belonged to Bishal who hit 15 boundaries and a six in his marathon knock. Aashu Kandoi contributed 77 and Hari Shankar Sah chipped in 44 runs to the team total.


Shanti Deep were already out of the game and only Saroj Basnet managed to make runs in double figures making 15 runs. Rashid Khan picked up four wickets for Province 2. On Tuesday, Province 3 will take on Tribhuvan Army Club.
