Prem Tamang's maiden century hands NPC second win in a row

Prem Tamang struck his maiden domestic ton as Nepal Police Police (NPC) routed Shanti Deep by 277 runs in the Manmohan Memorial Cup One Day National in Inaruwa on Sunday.

Electing to bat first, Prem struck a superb 121-ball 138 helping NPC post a mammoth 373-8 in 50 overs. Shanti Deep struggled throughout their chase before being bundled out for just 96 in 32.3 overs. It was NPC's second consecutive victory in the tournament.

NPC innings was all about Prem who struck 16 boundaries and four sixes in a whirwind knock. Kushal Bhurtel continued his good run and scored 78 runs off 51 balls with nine fours and three sixes. 

Opener Amit Shrestha was another batsman to score a half-century with 69 runs to his name. He smashed 12 fours and a six in his 53-ball innings.

Sonu Mandal picked up five wickets but in the process was struck for 80 runs in 10 overs. Rashid Khan, Saroj Basnet and Nishant Mahato were other wicket takers for Shanti Deep.

Shanti Deep hardly remained in the chase with Sonu managing just 24 runs. Emerging spinner Sagar Dhakal took 3-11 from nine overs in a disciplined bowling display. Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi also picked up two wickets for NPC.

Dipesh Shrestha bowled his heart out bowling five maiden out of six overs he bowled picking up a wicket giving away just four runs. Yogendra Karki and Ram Naresh Giri also had one scalp apiece. 

Sonu Ansari (17) and Amir Akhtar (15) were other two batsmen to touch double digits for Shanti Deep.
