Dec 22, 2018 | CN Staff |
Lalitpur Patriots defeated Bhairahawa Gladiators by 14 runs to lift the title of the Everest Premier League on Saturday

Jaykishan Kolsawala’s  well-composed half century took Patriots to 155 all out in 19.1 after Gladiators elected to field first. Lalit Rajbanshi then stepped up with three wickets as Gladiators were stopped at 141-9 in 20 overs.

Patriots got off to a good start with some wayward Gladiators bowling and sloppy fielding also helping their cause. Kolsawala shared 41 runs for the first wicket with Gourav Tomar (23). Tomar slammed a six and three boundaries in his 19-ball innings.

Kolsawala anchored the innings perfectly with 57 runs from 52 balls including three sixes and as many boundaries. The wicket-keeper batsman was also involved in a crucial 39-run stand with Sandeep Jora.

Jhora did the bulk of scoring in the partnership scoring 24 from just 11 deliveries hitting two sixes and a four.

Krishna Karki (3-15) halted the Patriots charge late in their innings, while Ryan ten Doeschate (2-21) and Mohammad Naveed (2-31) also shared four wickets between them for the Gladiators.

Ten Doeschate provided first breakthrough to Gladiators sending back Tomar Naveed got rid of hard hitters – Sonu Tamang (three) and Rashid Khan (zero)—cheaply.

Left arm spinner Lalit delivered under pressure in front of around 20,000 spectators and delivered perfectly in a perfect platform. He dismissed experience campaigners Ten Doeschate (14) and Vesawkar (14)  along with big-hitting Naveed (10).

Yogendra Karki (2-29) and Pawan Sarraf (2-26) also chipped in with two wickets each.

Pradeep Airee topscored for Gladiators making a 22-ball 34 that included four boundaries and a six. Ravi Inder Singh tried to keep Gladiators in the game but was out scoring 29 off 32 balls, falling to Pawan Sarraf. Khusal Malla (16 off eight) was their next best scoers.
