Prithu to lead Tigers for this season's EPL

Dec 06, 2018 | CN Staff |
Former U-19 national team skipper Prithu Baskota has been appointed as the captain Chitwan Tigers for this season of Everest Premier League (EPL). The franchise also confirmed ex-national player Kalam Ali as the coach.

The city-based franchise league is beginning from December 8 at the TU Stadium. Prithu, who didn't feature in the previous edition due to personal reasons, led Nepal during 2012 U-19 World Cup in Australia. Once a crucial member of national team, Prithu's career has been blighted by injuries and it was only last year he had made comeback to competitive tournaments through various leagues.

Prithu had played for English team Upchurch Cricket Club in the Kent Cricket League Division Two in 2015 with impressive unbeaten innings of 146 runs against Gravesend Cricket Club.

Former national team pace bowler Kalam said he was satisfied with his players’ energy and positive mind-set. Tigers’ two foreign players George Scott and John Simpson have already joined the closed-camp. Paul Stirling is their high-profile international recruit. Tigers are filled up with national cricket team's key members Dipendra Singh Airee and Lalit Singh Bhandari along with rising cricketer Bhim Sharki and Dilip Nath.
