Dipendra Singh Airee played a captain's knock to hand Dhangadhi Blues a thrilling victory in a crucial match of the Pokhara Premier League on Friday.
In their last league match at the Pokhara Stadium, Blues edged Sharad Vesawkar's Pokhara Paltan by two wickets with Dipendra playing role of a perfect finisher. Needing 14 runs to win from the last over from Mehboob Alam who bowled a wide in the first delivery, Dipedra smashed a straight six leaving seven to win from five balls.

A double in the second ball made it five to win from four and after a dot ball, Blues required five to win from three. The captain then notched up two boundaries with excellent cut to hand his side a sensational win.

Kamal Singh Airee had taken four wickets restricting Paltan to 144-8 in 20 overs. Rohit Kumar Paudel led the scoring for Paltan making a 21-ball 31 with four boundaries and a six. Ravi Inder Singh made 28 off 26 with two sixes and as many fours and Aasif Sheikh (23) was their next best scorer.

Blues had a decent start despite losing Dilip Nath (four) early in the game. Foreign recruit Peter Trego and Shubhendu Pandey (22) steadied the ship with a 54-run partnership for the second wicket. Trego scored quickly smashing a 34-ball 53 with five boundaries and four sixes.

Dipendra, who did the bulk of scoring in his unbeaten 37-run stand with Robeen Chhetri (zero), was unbeaten on 49 off 26 balls with four fours and as many sixes. Rashid Khan took four wickets for Paltan.

Blues currently lead the points table with six points but their progress will highly depend on results from other matches.
