Blasters crash to second defeat in a row

Nov 01, 2018 | CN Staff |
Sompal Kami's Butwal Blasters crashed to their second consecutive defeat in the Pokhara Premier League as Dhangadhi Blues stayed alive in the hunt for top three spot following a 20-run victory.

Batting first, Blues rode on a brilliant century stand between skipper Dipendra Singh Airee and Daniel Lawrence to reach 161-4 in 20 overs. Blasters were down and out at 64-5 before Chirag Suri saved their blushed with a composed half century taking the team to 141-6.

The victory, however, hardly affected the standings as Blasters lead the table on net run rate after they were tied on four points with Pokhara Paltan, Chitwan Rhinos, Kathmandu Royals and Blues. Bottom-placed Biratnagar Titans (2 pts) are also in the hunt for the top three spot.

Suri, who shared 48 runs for the seventh wicket with Sompal Kami (12), was unbeaten on 79 from 54 balls with 12 fours and a six. Rohan Mustafa (20) was Blasters' second best scorer. Sagar Dhakal took two wickets for Blues.

Dipendra and Daniel earlier had rebuilt the innings in the most perfect way adding 108 runs for the fourth wicket. Dipendra made 56 off 39 with four fours and two sixes, while Lawrence scored 52 off 39 hitting three boundaries and two sixes. Bipin Khatri took two wickets for Blasters.
