Sharad's Paltan topple Paras' Rhinos

Oct 29, 2018 | CN Staff |
Paras Khadka's Chitwan Rhinos crashed to their second consecutive defeat in the Pokhara Premier League losing to Sharad Vesawkar's Pokhara Paltan on Monday.

Electing to bat first in the day's second game, notable contributions from Sunny Patel and Paras lifted Rhinos to 140-5 in 20 overs. Karan KC and Patel then gave them a dream start removing openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh in their respective first overs with Paltan yet to score.

But a middle order resurgence led by Ravi Inder Singh, Sharad Vesawkar and Rohit Kumar Paudel guided them safely home at 146-5 in 17.2 overs. Singh and Rohit defied Rhinos with a 78-run stand with the former doing bulk of the scoring.

Rohit made 19 off 24 with one six and a four and after his departure it was Sharad who did the job for Paltan. Sharad played with some grit forging a 58-run stand with SIngh. Man-of-the-match Singh made 65 off 48 with eight fours and three sixes, while Sharad chipped in 20-ball 37 with three sixes and three fours.

Karan KC dismissed both Sharad and Singh in a space of one run but by then it was too late. Karan took 3-19 from four overs. Shakti Gauchan also had one scalp.

Paras and Sunny lifted the innings from the middle order with the latter doing the most effective job. He struck a 27-ball 46 not out and Paras contributed 44 off 32 to the total. Both hit three sixes and as many fours apiece.

Sonu Tamang scored a 27-ball 21 hitting two fours and a six. Anil Kumar Sah made 18-ball 16 with a six and a four. Bikram Kumar Bhushal took 2-33 from three overs with Mehboob Alam, Mohammad Naveed and Sharad Vesawkar picking up a wicket apiece.
