Sandeep impresses but Patriots still lose

Nepal's Sandeep Lamichhane came up with another excellent performance for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League on Thursday.

In Kingston, Sandeep returned figures of 2-21 but his side still fell 47 runs short to Jamaica Tallawahs. It was second defeat for the Patriots in the tournament in their third match. 

Sandeep came in to bowl the fifthth over and gave 10 runs but came back strong in the seventh over picking up the wickets of Kennar Lewis in the second ball and Andre McCarthy in the fourth. He was quite impressive in the next two overs conceding just four runs in 12 deliveries. 

Electing to field first, Patriots allowed Tallawahs to reach 178-4 in 20 overs. Ross Taylor top scored for the team with not out 51 off just 35 balls, while Lewis(49) and Glenn Philips(41) were next best contributors. Carlos Brathwaite and Ben Cutting took one wicket each from their respective four overs for Patriots. 

Chasing 179-run target, Patriots were restricted to 131-9 in 20 overs. Chris Gayle (24 off 25) and Mahmudullah (22 off 15) were the topscores for the team. Krishmar Santokie, Adam Zampa and Imad Wasim took two wickets each from their respective four-over spells while Oshane Thomas, Steven Jacobs and Andre Russell had one scalp apiece.

Patriots will now compete against St. Lucia Stars on Tuesday.
