Aasif bats but falls for just eight

Jul 08, 2018 | Saleena Shrestha |
Nepali U-19 cricketer Aasif Sheikh scored eight runs off five balls in the Malaysian Premier League as Kuala Lumpur registered their second consecutive comprehensive victory on Sunday
Aasif, who has not been able to convert into big scores for a long time, was given the opportunity to open the innings ahead of Sagar Pun but his innings lasted not more than five balls. He hit two boundaries.
Electing to bat first, Penang were bundled out for just 62 runs in 15.2 overs after Kuala Lampur bowler tightened the screws in the Penang top order. Vealeshwaran Athiappan(31 off 34) was the only batsman to score in double digits for Penang.
Kuala Lampur reached the paltry target losing four wickets in just 11.4 overs. Another opener Virandeep Singh top scored with 22 off 25 balls with two boundaries and a maximum.
It is the consecutive second victory for Kuala Lampur after they hammered Penang by nine wickets on the first league of the double round robin league based tournament.
Pun had lit up his tournament smashing 66 from 42 balls in Kula Lumpur's nine-wicket victory over Penang in the first leg. Kuala Lampur are now on the top of the table with four points. Kuala Lampur will now compete against Team UKM on July 14Saturday.
