Nepal's young leg spin prodigy Sandeep Lamichhane left for Canada to participate in the Global Twenty20 Canada which began on Thursday in the North American country.

Sandeep is currently in New Delhi and flew to Canada from Indian at 9:00 PM. He will reach Canada around 2:55 AM in the early morning. Sandeep will be playing for Montreal Tigers and will be missing Friday's match against Winnipeg Hawks. Tigers had paid US $40,000 following an auction to secure the services of Sandeep.

Sandeep will be able to join the team for the CWI 'B" team on Saturday. Global Twenty20 Canada is going to be the second big Twenty20 league in Sandeep's career having previously made headlines in the Indian Premier League where he played for the Delhi Daredevils.

Sandeep had picked up five wickets from three matches he played for Daredevils. He had also played a charity match representing World XI against the West Indies at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. Although, Global Twenty20 is organised by a non-Test side, it includes some of the biggest names in world cricket.

Australia skipper Steven Smith made his comeback in competitive cricket for Toronto Nationals while serving a one-year ban of Cricket Australia. Smith was sacked as Australia captain and banned from international and domestic cricket for a year for his envolvment in a ball tampering scandal in South Africa in March this year.
