Army cruise into semis with Province 4 scalp

Jun 03, 2018 | Parbati Lama |
Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) hammered Province 4 by nine wickes to enter the semi-finals of the Prime Minister Cup One Day National cricket tournament on Sunday
In a lopsided Group 'A' match at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, Bikram Sob, Shahab Alam and Sagar Pun picked up three wickets each to bundle out Province 4 for a paltry 76 in 29 overs. TAC raced to victory in just 16.4 overs replying with 77-1.
Opener Anil Mandal scored 28 not out from 45 balls with three boundaries and Sagar Pun was out for 26 after hitting two sixes and a four in 33 deliveries. Naresh Budhayer was unbeaten on 10.
TAC now have six points from three games and will meet second-placed Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club in their last league match on Tuesday. APF have four points from two matches and on Monday they will meet Province 2 who need a huge margin victory to stay alive for semi-final contention. Province 4 and Province 1 are knocked out from the pool.
Province 4 were still in the game at 58-1 in 17 overs but once Bikram got into act by dismissing Manzil Neupane (eight), their innings began to crumble. Bikram returned in his next over to get rid of in-form batsman Hari Bahadur Chauhan for a duck as Province went on to lose their last nine wickets for just 28 runs.
Opener Anil Gurung was stranded on 42 from 90 balls hitting seven boundaries. Bikram took 3-13 from eight overs, while Sahab took 3-6 from six and Sagar snared 3-14 from seven.
