Everest Premier League (EPL) Pvt Ltd on Thursday signed a ‘landmark’ deal with Nepalflix – a product of Bangladesh’ leading digital entertainment company Bongo – for the upcoming season of the EPL Twenty20.

According to the deal, Nepalflix will now be the official digital broadcasting partner and will stream all the matches of the Twenty20 tournament through its various platforms. EPL Pvt Ltd Managing Director Aamir Akhtar and Bongo Chief Operating Officer Karel Kuiperi signed the agreement during the programme on Thursday.

EPL also has AP1 HD as its television broadcast partner. Akhtar called the deal a landmark. “This is a landmark deal because EPL will now cater to audiences outside Nepal and that too in a larger scale. Bongo is a big company which has been live streaming Bangladesh Premier League and Pakistan Super League. We can say that EPL has taken another big step towards professionalism,” said Akhtar.

Kuiperi was equally ecstatic to land the deal. “We had been following Nepali cricket since 2014 ICC World Twenty20. Off late, Nepali cricket has really taken off and it has made tremendous progress in the global cricket. This is a great association for us,” said Kuiperi.

The signing amount for the first edition, however, was not disclosed. "We are happy with the agreement and there is no price for happiness. This is a good deal for everyone," said Akhtar.

EPL is a city-based franchise cricket tournament which is now into its third edition. Akhtar informed that the tentative date for this edition is set for November. Biratnagar Warriors, Bhairahawa Gladiators, Pokhara Rhinos, Lalitpur Patriots, Kathmandu Kings and Chitwan Tigers are the six teams involved in the previous edition.

EPL will be expected to give continuity to the same model and number of teams for the next edition. Paras Khadka’s Warriors had beaten Sharad Vesawkar-led Gladiators in the final at the TU Stadium which was packed by over 12,000 supporters last year.
