Sandeep’s grand farewell in IPL debut

May 20, 2018 | Parbati Lama |

Nepali young leg spin prodigy Sandeep Lamichhane bid a grand farewell to his debut Indian Premier League (IPL) after the bowler starred in the last two victories of Delhi Daredevils.Sandeep was included for Daredevils in the last three matches of the tournament after the franchise was knock out of the playoff contention. But those three inconsequential games for Daredevils proved a good exposure platform for Sandeep who not only picked up five wickets but also showed a great amount of maturity in contrast to his age.

After picking up 1-25 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the debut game and 1-21 against Chennai Super Kings, Sandeep came up with another spell-binding performance picking up three wickets against Mumbai Indians at the Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.

Although Sandeep was hit for 36 runs – the most expensive match for the 17-year old in IPL – he took the wickets of Surya Kumar Yadav, Keiron Pollard and Krunal Pandya enticing all three batsmen cunningly. Sandeep now returns from Delhi with five wickets and good economy of 6.833, a perfect figure for a leg spinner in his debut IPL.
