Sahab’s magical bowling leaves APF tattered

Apr 23, 2018 | Saleena Shrestha |

Sahab Alam took a fifer as Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) hammered Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) by nine wickets in the first Group ‘B’ match of the DGMT cricket tournament on Monday.

Man-of-the-match Alam picked up five crucial wickets to demolish the APF middle order before they were bundled out for a tournament-low 76 in 19.5 overs. Opener Sagar Pun then struck 34-ball 57 with two sixes and eight boundaries as United reached 79-1 in just 11 overs.

Sagar gave a perfect reply in chase of a low total with a 74-run opening wicket partnership with Naresh Budhayer (15 not out) as TAC scampered to victory with 54 balls to spare. Naresh hit three boundaries in his 30-ball innings. Pawan Sarraf took the only TAC wicket to fall.

Earlier, Jitendra Mukhiya gave the early breakthrough to TAC removing openers Anil Sah (three) and Sumit Maharjan (five) before Sahab ran riot.

Sahab returned the magical figures of 5-12 in his four-over spell. He dismissed Sandeep Jora (8), Rohit Paudel (11), Pawan Sarraf (1), Amar Singh Routela (8) and Kamal Singh Airee (2).

Apart from Jitendra, Sushan Bhari Shrestha also took two wickets for TAC who will now play against Sonnet Kanpur in the first on Tuesday. APF will lock horns with Biratnagar in the second match.
