Apr 02, 2018 | Saleena Shrestha |
U-19 allrounder Kamal Singh Airee ran riot in the top order as CYC Attariya hammered Rupandehi Challengers by nine wickets in the Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL) on Sunday.

At the SP grounds, man-of-the-match Airee picked up four wickets -- three of them in the top order -- as Challengers were bundled out for DPL low 61 in 15.2 overs. Indian recruit Gaurav Chitkara then struck an 18-ball 30 not out with three sixes and two boundaries as Attariya reached 65-1 in just 7.3 overs.

Skipper Subash Khakurel did the most of the scoring in his 26-run opening wicket stand with Prem Tamang (14 not out) making a 13-ball 19 with four boundaries. Chitkara and Prem then shared 39 runs for the second wicket as Attariya scampered to victory with 75 balls to spare.

Prem hit two boundaries in his 19-ball innings. Jitendra Mukhiya took the only Attariya wicket to fall.

Earlier, Krishna Karki gave the early breakthrough to Attariya removing opener Pradeep Airee in the first ball of the day before Kamal wreaked havoc. First he dismissed Bikram Kumar Bushal (eight) and next ball got rid of Sagar Pun for a duck.

Captain Shakti Gauchan then fell to Vinit Chandra before Kamal got the better of Dipak Prasad as the scores read 23-5 three balls before the powerplays. Man-of-the-match Kamal then marked a memorbale outing removing Siddhant Lohani (four).

Challengers' Omani international Sufya Mehmood top scored for their side with a 25-ball 20 not out that included a six and a four. Jiendra Mukhiya hit a six in his five-ball seven before becoming the third victim of Shuvankar Urao who returned the figures of 3-7 from 2.2 overs.
