Mahendranagar rope in Indian duo for DPL-2

Mahendranagar United, one of the six franchises of the Dhangadhi Premier League Twenty20, have announced Indian duo Puneet Mehra and Puneet Bista as their international recruits for this edition.

While both players have experience of playing in Ranji Trophy, the premier five-day cricket tournament of India, Bista featured for Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils in 2012. Bista is a wicketkeeper batsman and Mehra is a slow left arm bowler and can be handy with the bat too.

Mehra has played six List A matches and 14 Twenty20s. The two batsmen also featured in the Bhairahawa Gladiators squad for the Everest Premier League that was held at the TU ground last December.

Mahendranagar has Binod Bhandari as the team's strategic player and Binod Das as a coach. The team has already begun its training camp from Sunday. National team star trio Karan KC, Rohit Kumar Poudel and Aarif Sheikh are some other big names in the Gladiators squad that also includes Avinash Karn, Bhuwan Karki and Aarif’s younger brother Aasif.

A total of six city based teams -- CYC Attariya, Kathmandu Goldens,Team Chauraha Dhangadhi, Rupandehi Challengers, Biratnagar Kings, Mahendranagar United- will be competing in the second edition of DPL which will give away Rs 2.5 million to the champions.
