Baluwatar run riot on Trimurty Boys

Baluwatar Cricket Club hammered Trimurty Boys by 10 wickets in their first Group ‘B’ match of the Khukuri Challenger Twenty20 cricket tournament on Thursday.In the first match of the day at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, IOE Pulchowk eased to a seven-wicket victory over Lord Buddha Cricket Club (LBCC).

Baluwatar’s came up with the most comprehensive victory as they bowled with a disciplined effort to skittle out Trimurty for just 89 runs in 20 overs. Man-of-the-match Pranit Thapa Magar and his opener partner Suman Uday did the rest as Baluwatar cantered to victory in just 9.1 overs.

Kshitiz Singh picked up 3-25 from four overs and Amar Singh Routela had double scalp as Baluwatar ran riot against a clueless Trimurty side for whom only Himanshu Dutta offered some resistance making a 25-ball 23 with three boundaries.

Arjun Poudel (10) and Kaushal Mishra (11) were other batsmen to make runs in double figures. Krishna Karki, Abhinash Bashyal and Prithu Baskota also had one wicket each for Baluwatar.

U-19 national Pranit then punished Trimurty as the opener smashed 33-ball 58 not out with nine boundaries and two sixes. Suman made 26 off 22 with three hits to the fence.

LBCC failed to build on a solid 60-run opening wicket partnership before they were restricted to 139-8 in 20 overs. Pulchowk recovered from an early blow before reaching home safely in 19.2 overs riding on a half century from Gaurav Khadka.

Man-of-the-match Gaurav shared 82 runs for the second wicket with opener Pankaj Kumar Das as they closed in on triple figures. Gaurav made 50 off 44 with four boundaries and a six.

Pulchowk lost Gaurav and new man Chiranjivi Pandey (one) in a space of nine runs but Pankaj glued to crease and together with Pramod Jaiswal shared 48 unbeaten runs taking his team home.

Pankaj made a composed 44 from 50 balls with four boundaries and a six, while Pramod chipped in a 16-ball 23 with two boundaries. Krishna Gajurel took two and Prasun Thapa Magar snared one wicket for LBCC.

Earlier, openers Abhisesh Thapa Magar and Binod Khadka gave LBCC a decent start but their middle order failed to build on the total. Abhisesh made 34 off 28 with five boundaries and a six. Khadka made 28 off 25 with five boundaries. Manish Shrivastav lifted the side with a 26-ball 34 hitting three boundaries.
