Warriors set Gladiators for 150-run target in final

Biratnagar Warriors have given a target of 150 runs to win the second edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL) Twenty20 at a jam-packed TU Stadium on Saturday.


Electing to bat first, Anshuman Rath did most of the scoring in his 34-run opening wicket partnership with Aashif Sheikh before middle order batsmen provided the lift taking Warriors to 149-7 in 20 overs.

Aasif poor run of form with the bat continued after he was dismissed by Sharad Vesawkar for just seven runs. Aarif Sheikh then struck with the prized scalp of Babar Hayat, who failed for the first time in the tournament making a 10-ball 11. 

Rath made a run-a-ball 41 hitting four boundaries and a six. Paras Khadka tried to up the ante and took the team to 100 runs before holing out a catch at mid on to Bhuwan Karki off Hari Shankar Sah. Paras scored 22 off 17 with two sixes and a four. 

Anil Sah scored 22 from 17 with two boundaries and a six and Pranit Thapa hit a 13-ball 14 with one boundary. Karan KC, who hit a six off Aarif in the last ball of the last over, was unbeaten on a three-ball nine. 

Hari Shankar was the most successful bowler picking up two wickets and conceding just 16 runs, while Krishna Karki was hit for 27 runs picking up two wickets.
